I gave the sludgemaster to the witch and she gave me the red slippers, but now I can%26#039;t figure out how to get back to the witch%26#039;s house who is holding the little girl captive -- the way is now blocked by sludge. What to do???

Ok, go back like you are going to go to the vampire village, but don%26#039;t go into it, instead go right and search that area really good. you should be able to find it from there. Sorry this answer is kind of lame, i am not real good about giving directions.
